TESLA BLATNÁ offers a wide range of resistors based on two main technologies: power wirewound resistors for use in applications with high braking, charging, discharging or heating power requirements, and thick-film high voltage resistors for high voltage/low inductance applications.

TESLA resistors

There are three basic series of TESLA resistors. These are wirewound resistors in aluminium housing - TR31x, TR33x and TR35x series, wirewound cemented resistors - TR26x and TR30x series, and thick-film high voltage resistors - 3WK 608 0x series. The range is further expanded with different variants and modifications responding to increased requirements in terms of power load, pulse overload capacity, ohmic value, degree of protection, and price/performance ratio.

Aluminium housed resistors: UL-certified aluminium housed resistors are high-performance wirewound resistors with IP54 and higher. The resistors are short-circuit resistant and offer a wide range of applications due to their compact design. The chosen construction and design of the resistors guarantee maximum impulse stability with high rated continuous performance at the same time. All materials are non-flammable. Custom-designed resistors are available on request and in various combinations of assemblies.

Aluminum housing ensures quick heat dissipation from the resistor. The housing is non-corrosive, non-magnetic, lightweight, and mechanically resistant.

Silica sand with excellent electrical insulation properties fills the space between the resistive winding, the ceramic, and the housing. It increases the mechanical resistance of the resistor and optimizes heat dissipation from the resistor body.

The ceramic with high mechanical strength, electrical insulation, and thermal shock resistance provides maximum protection and insulation to the resistive winding.

The hydrophobic cement mixture reliably protects the internal parts of the resistor.

The resistive winding, with its high operating temperature and high melting temperature, guarantees a high pulse load on the resistor.

Flexible electrical conductors of different types and materials are used for reliable connection of resistors even in harsh conditions.

The brass coupling ensures a perfect connection of the resistive winding to the resistor pins.

To achieve maximum heat dissipation from the resistor, we recommend that the resistors are properly mounted on a sufficiently large cooling plate. Heat transfer can be further improved by applying a thermally conductive paste between the aluminum housing of the resistor and the plate.

Outlets

The standard 30 cm long outlets are made of high-temperature material rated up to 250 °C. However, there is also a choice of leads made of other materials, leads with non-standard lengths and with different types of terminations (contacts, connectors, terminal blocks). The conductors can be fitted with fuses or other design elements.

Aluminum housings

TESLA offers four standard shapes of aluminium housings. These housings can be further customised, particularly according to the application and the size of the installation space. Additional mounting and retaining holes can be drilled, threads and grooves can be milled, and the degree of protection of the internal part of the resistor can be increased by riveting or screwing on additional metal coverings.

Thermal Switches

For power resistors, temperature is very important. If the internal or external parts of the resistor get too hot, failure can occur. For continuous temperature monitoring, we offer the possibility to equip the resistor with a thermo switch. The temperature-defined thermoswitch can be placed either directly in the cement grout or as an external thermoswitch on the aluminum housing.
